Family life Uncategorized Travel Health Technology Random thoughts Crafts Food Environment Apr 26 Saturday and Sunday Hannie on April 26th, 2010 It has been busy days for the boys. First on Saturday, Cal woke up all by himself, brushed his teeth and came back in the room to tell me what he has done, he is so ready to go to his half day camp at school. He even went to take his yogurt tablet all by himself! In normal days I would be the one who had to wake him up, ready his yogurt tablet together with a cup of water! I wish everyday is like the last Saturday. After that was some serious drawing and coloring time for the boys: As for Sunday, we were so late in getting to the Church, however they did have a great time in the Sunday school where Mer got himself two toy cars and some stickers just because he has been so good. Since I had to get Cal to finish off his homework which seems endless! I need to make sure that he won’t get any distraction and I won’t loose my temper, at the same time Mer got things to play with, we all went to the Kiddies Club. Cal did his homework there, while Mer did some painting. Thank God he finished 99% of it. The other 1%, he insisted to bring them home. Just look at how serious he was: As for this morning, yes, I did really have to drag him up. Family life No comments » Apr 24 Much a do about nothing Hannie on April 24th, 2010 Yes, weekend is here. I wanted to do so many things, and yet felt so lazy and tire. At least I’ve done one apron for my mom. Hope that come into handy. Other than that, this is the only post that I’ve written so far. At least I have gone into the salon and gave myself some pampering, just sat there and let the person who knows about hair to do my hair, washed and blown. I wanted to do like Ali did – Week in the life where she journal down her daily life for the week complete with inner thoughts and photos. A very meaningful thing to do, one that will serve as a wake up call, a good reminder of blessings and things that we cherish most, even the simplest thing of all that we have been having everyday. Sometimes we overlook. This is true – we always take things for granted especially those dearest to us. We are like just immune on them and didn’t realist it till we almost or already lost them. I’m praying and reminding myself that I won’t be doing that. Even on our health. I’m glad that I’m realising this. Random thoughts No comments » Apr 23 TGIF Hannie on April 23rd, 2010 During where I had my shower and the boys were suppose to be sleeping, I heard Cal calling “Mommy!” “Huh! You are suppose to be sleeping, why is that?” “I need some green beans for tomorrow’s class in school!” “Oh gosh! Where can I find green bean now? Why didn’t you tell me earlier!? It is late now, can’t get it!” “Mommmmmmmyyyy……” With sad sound of course. So at the end I assured him I’ll try to get it from Aunt (my sister). However the story didn’t end just there. When I went to get ready his school back for class next day, I found out that he’s got homework that haven’t finished. He (Cal) told me earlier on that he has finished his homework, I should have check. When I asked him if he needs to get them done, he said yes and straight away started to do his homework, but like usual, he always got this and that to do when doing his homework. Either it was looking for pencil, sharpening the pencil, arranging his pencil box or simply got things to tell me. At this time, Mer also came out from the bedroom and looking for his big brother. After I’ve put the laundry into the washing machine, I accompany Mer to bed, but he kept on asking in a worrying kind of voice about his Ko-Ko (big brother). He doesn’t want to sleep alone and needed his brother’s company actually. And he was worried for his brother’s homework. Finally after I’ve tugged him in, I went to check on Cal, whom already fell asleep right there with his homework, poor boy… One thing I found that there are lots of rough play between the boys, lots of laugh and giggle before bed and it is actually something that Mer look forward to – to play with Ko-Ko, other than the story book that I read to them every night. So, how did it go about the bean? Okay, my sis forgot to bring them and Cal forgot to have his school shoes in the car, so I had to go back home to get the shoes and fortunately my in-law has some red-bean that I can use. Thank God its Friday! Note: photo was taken on our way home on Wednesday – a really tired Cal. Family life 1 Comment » Apr 18 My new bag Hannie on April 18th, 2010 All done by my own hands! With the help of an online tutorial from Noodlehead. Not bad huh? The material was bought from a curtain shop which is having offer. As for the metal, I safe them from my old bag which I no longer use. Going to safe all those metal parts in the future. I’ve already got order once this is out! Haha!! They are from my two sons! *LOL* You can find the tutorial here. Crafts 2 Comments » Apr 16 Rashes Hannie on April 16th, 2010 Cal has this itchy rashes on his body. It as been quite sometimes now, it is on and off. I suspect he is allergy to something, most probably the food that he ate. I’ve started giving him life yogurt tablet and hoping that his condition will get better. The thing is, once he feel itchy, he’ll scratch non-stop. He doesn’t even rub it gently, so by using his little fingers with a bit of nail, it is enough damage to caused him sleepless at night. It is only the 3 day that he has taken the yogurt tablet, I don’t see any improvement yet, so later I’ll need to bring him to the pharmacist to get maybe the calamine lotion or such to cure him from feeling itchy. Poor boy. On the other hand, Mer is enjoying the “Airport” puzzle that I got for him 2 days ago. He is totally into it and won’t want to put it down for shower! I hope this will keep him occupy for some time. Family life No comments » Apr 14 My little reporter Hannie on April 14th, 2010 Yes, I have a little reporter at home. One who reports anything that the big brother had done, wrong especially. While in the car, little reporter is sitting on the front-seat with his booster, while big brother is sitting behind mommy. Mommy: “Cal, have you put on your seat belt?” While trying to look at him from the rear mirror. Cal: “Hmmm..” Little reporter: “No! Mommy! Ko-Ko haven’t put on his seat belt!” On other time.. Little reporter would go up to mommy and say something like… “Mommy, ko-ko did this and that!” Mommy:”I want to hear what have you done instead of ko-ko. You don’t need to report about ko-ko, mommy would know.” Little reporter:”But mommy! Ko-Ko did that!” Ya, I know.. if I need a little reporter’s help, I surely can count on this one. Family life 1 Comment » Apr 12 Mothers2Mothers Hannie on April 12th, 2010 Got an alert concerning this site: Mother2Mothers which really meaningful indeed. “A not for profit organization called mothers2mothers is honoring Mother’s Day by giving anyone who donates $50 or more both a special Mother’s Day card as well as a music video on DVD created by 17-year old rising star Rachel Eskenazi entitled “Save An Angel,” created in tribute to mothers2mothers moms. (This song can also be downloaded at iTunes.com.) mothers2mothers (www.m2m.org) helps pregnant women and new mothers in Africa learn how to prevent the spread of HIV to their children, saving hundreds of thousands of lives a year. In fact, nearly 100% percent of m2m babies are born HIV-negative- and amazing record!” So, I hope you would consider to at least read about this and maybe make a donation to m2m. Happy early Mother’s Day to all moms in the world. Random thoughts No comments » Apr 8 Assessment Hannie on April 8th, 2010 Today is the 2nd day that Cal having his test, it is like a little exam for them to assess how much have they learnt. Ever since the test, he has been complaining about stomach ache, one that without cold forehead, which to me is fake. I told him it will go away once he sad in the room and that because he is scared. He confidently said he wasn’t scare of the exam, he was just simply having stomach ache. Probably he was, but still I would think that he was just fine and all due to the exam then he has got this problem. He was trying to drag n the time again. Even little Mer started to get frustrated about it and complaint that the brother was taking a long time to get into the classroom. I’m hoping now that Mer will be totally fine when he got into Primary. I will still hear about stomach ache tomorrow, let’s just hope that he get flying colors in his assessment test. Family life No comments » Apr 5 Finally it rain Hannie on April 5th, 2010 Yes, “I can see clearly now, the rain has gone.” Thanks for the rain, dear God. But no thanks to DBKK (Town Board) for not managing the drainage during the dry season, ‘cos some places flooded and has land slide. However I still love the feelings, the clean air, the greens and really things look so much clearer now after the rain. Maybe due to the heavy down pour, we had a black-out at home. It was still pitch dark when I got home from my mom’s place. Thank God that it came back on after that, so the boys had some story time before bed. We had a long weekend due to the Easter break. The boys get to have so much egg that I’ve requested not to have egg again tonight. Well, since it was a long weekend, Cal had Monday blue. He doesn’t feel like getting up early, he needs more sleep and requested to sleep first before doing his homework this afternoon in the tuition place. Poor boy. As for Mer, he is delighted to be able to get to school the earliest! Family life 1 Comment » Mar 31 Carbon neutral site Hannie on March 31st, 2010 Do you know that every site create carbon footprints especially those that have high visitors hit. Now, a blog of 15,000 visits a month has a yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 8lb. One way to neutralize it is to plant more trees and this company is doing just that. Offering site owners a chance to plant trees. Their idea is to show possibilities to make a contribution to protect the environment. And how do they actually neutralize site’s carbon footprint? They are planting trees in cooperation with the Arbor Day Foundation in Plumas National Forest in Northern California for our project to neutralize the carbon footprint of blogs/sites. Thousands of wildfires burned down many national forests over the past ten years and 88.000 acres of Plumas’ were destroyed by two fires in 2007. To help replanting, they need the support of bloggers all over the world! For every participating blog they plant a tree. One blog – one tree. You may ask why they do that. They are a German based company called kaufDA, which provides advertisement brochures of local stores online to help consumers search for specific products and find good deals in their neighborhood. This reduces the amount of brochures printed and so the project helps the environment by reducing unnecessary paper in mailboxes. An American on average receives 41 pounds of junk mail per year. This has the same carbon footprint as burning six gallons of gasoline. To find out how you can participate please visit here. I’m joining, are you?
