Lyrical Exercise Vol. 1 coming this August... comments (0) Jan 1, 2009 Genisys Genisys is a very dynamic duo and their objective is to bring a breath of fresh air into the hip-hop music genre and to the music diaspora overall. They strive for excellence and great quality music. It all started with two young Syracuse University freshmen undergraduates rapping in front of a computer camera for fun, posting their freestyles to Facebook. A.C.E. & 6EE's freestyles quickly gained popularity across campus. Looking to revamp what they had started, the two began what would be known as the 119 Cipher Series. The concept was unheard of; creating a regular series exclusively on Facebook. Every Friday at 9 a new episode featuring A.C.E. & 6EE and other hip-hop talent on campus would be posted. As the series gained popularity the two knew that it was time to expand. Thus, Takeover Entertainment was founded, an umbrella of digital entertainment. Along with the launch of Takeover Entertainment came new ventures: a new dance series, airing on Saturdays and a new goal, to become the face of hip-hop music on campus. The two closed out 119 Cipher Series' first season with a new format hinting at what was to come next semester and began focusing on their first mixtape, Lyrical Exercise Vol. 1. Compiling many new and classic instrumentals from producers such as Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, The Neptunes, and many others; Genisys began their work on breathing new life into these instrumentals. Nearing completion of this LP, Genisys is looking forward to it's release and promise that it will not disappoint. comments (0) Oct 11, 1990 A.C.E. Also known by his given name Jason Adams, A.C.E. a.k.a. Ace of Spades, has been dedicating years of his life toward his rap career. When asked why, he simply replied, "For some rappers in the game it's their only route to success because of their environment. For me, music is the only thing I know how to fully dedicate myself to and do well. There is no other option for me. I've come too far and sacrificed too much for this. Failure is not an option." If you ask him, he simply wants to be successful. A.C.E. is not shy about his lust for the good life, but he has coupled that with an undying love for hip-hop music and culture. When asked about how he felt concerning raps current state A.C.E. replied optimistically saying: "Hip-Hop is not dead, we're just looking for it in the wrong places. We live in a world where, through the internet, the independent artist can progress as far as he or she wants as long as they're willing to put the work in. When I see artists like Drake, Wale, Kid Cudi, and many other 'hip-hop freshmen' finally getting theirs it shows me that in a world where R&B/Hip-Hop hybrids rule the airwaves, there is still room for a breath of fresh air in hip-hop." A.C.E. has been influenced by a wide array of great hip-hop artists. He claims his greateset influences have come from 90s hop-hop. "The 90s was all about the words, people weren't getting all caught up in the beat and feeling empty punch-lines because they're from popular rappers, like they are today. I try to combine both elements of that 90s lyrical style and elements of today's new-style hip-hop into something I've yet to see any new rappers make happen. I still like going back to my roots though and doing an old school feel track or sometimes even ditching the old school flow for some new flavor. It's really all about how I'm feeling that day. At first I didn't know if people were actually feeling the way I rapped, because there was nothing to compare myself to that was already out there to assure me what i was doing would be accepted. But as time went on people were telling me they liked my flow and that it was 'unique.' I was very modest at first, but when you hear so many people tell you something similar like that you gotta start believing it. Ever since then I've doubted myself less and less when putting together music and can only hope people continue to enjoy what I do." He was exposed to music at a very young age and started his poetry writing in grade school. Being born during the "Golden Age" of Hip Hop can have a great influence on anyone and definitely played a huge role in the upbringing of 6EE. Da God credits legendary music acts such as De La Soul, The Roots, The Fugees & A Tribe Called Quest as great early influences that made him want to work on music himself. He also states lyricists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Rakim, Nas & Jay-Z shaped him as an overall rapper and played as role models on his path to Hip Hop music. 6EE has always been the center of attention when it came to the topic of music in school or just the local Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn. Da God performed at various talent shows in Junior High School and freestyled many times with other rappers in High School. He has also performed at Hip Hop Showcases and participated in a Hip Hop class, which was taught by underground musician K~Swift. Currently, he is a part of a Hip Hop group by the name of Genisys with fellow New York rapper A.C.E. He has also worked with musicians such as D-Tox, Ace Boogie, Stann Smith & P-3. He has released a hit record "Hello" which he recorded with Stann Smith & P-3. The record has since received great reviews and has been downloaded numerous times. Da God strives for success on a day to day basis and works hard at everything he does. He tries to incorporate various rhyming styles and patterns in his music and always seeks for diversity in his craft. He has a passion and love for music overall and would like to work with as much artist as he can. 6EE seeks growth and exposure and is prepared for whatever life throws at him. 6EE on MySpace: Follow 6EE: comments (0) Jan 1, 1990 Contact Us A.C.E.: AceXXI@GenisysLive.com 6EE: DaGod6EE@GenisysLive.com Booking/Management: info@GenisysLive.com comments (0) Subscribe to: Posts (Atom) Welcome to GenisysLive Yele Haiti Takeover Entertainment New on TakeoverTV Loading...
