Filed under: News, Gallery Updates Awards for Atonement! • 31 Jan 2008 Posted by Ali » Comments (0) Atonement has gotten some more awards. Another awards ceremony, another award for Atonement. The plush Ian McEwan adaptation was last night named best film at the Richard Attenborough film awards, a newly-named event that is voted for by UK regional journalists. For good measure, Atonement also picked up prizes for best film-maker (Joe Wright), best actor (James McAvoy) and screenwriter (Christopher Hampton), further buttressing its status as one of the frontrunners for next month's Oscars. But in the latest snub to the film's star, Keira Knightley missed out on the actress award, which went to Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Initially tipped as an Oscar favourite, Knightley failed to pick up an Academy Award nomination. • Source Keira's green dress from Atonement is also being auctioned. Keira's green Atonement dress will be auctioned from tomorrow by ClothesOffOurBack in aid of California children's charity Variety. It is one of several identical dresses made for the movie under supervision of Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline Durran. Wanna buy it? Click here . Faviana also made a dress similar to Keira's, and should be available to buy by now, if you don't have enough money for the actual dress. Added another couple of Makeup and Hair tutorials. Check those out. News! Keira Knightley has changed her mind about trying her hand at comedy - insisting she's "too dark" to pull it off. The actress recently announced plans to ditch romantic and period dramas for funny films, after being inspired by Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory. She said, "I always say I've no interest in doing a comedy because I don't watch very many. But actually I think I am lying because the other day I saw Blades of Glory and thought it was brilliant." But the 22-year-old has decided to stick with what she knows best: "I'm too dark in my soul to ever do a comedic role. I'm afraid I'd make a fool of myself." • Source I'm currently adding a bunch of stuff to the gallery. I have around 400 files so I might not finish until tomorrow, but you can check out the latest here . Filed under: News, Gallery Updates, Stylings, New Photos A bit of news • 29 Jan 2008 Posted by Ali » Comments (0) Teachers at Keira Knightley's former high school are so gutted by the actress' Oscar snub they have clubbed together to send her a BAFTAs good luck card. Searching for signatures to drop off at the 22-year-old's parent's house, a teacher at the Teddington School said of the Atonement star... 'We have kindly made a card to send to Keira Knightley, congratulating her on being nominated for a BAFTA for Atonement.' 'We are disappointed that she missed out on an Oscar nomination. I know lots of the staff, who were here when she was a pupil, have very fond memories of her. 'She was really hard working and never made a fuss when she was away filming. She just quietly made up the work and slipped back into school life.' 'Most of the students at Teddington are very proud to be associated with Keira through the school. I am always being asked if I taught her and where she sat.' Go Keira, Richmond's rooting for you! Atonement is now at its widest screening in North America (1,400 theaters), and has now taken nearly $38m there alone. Total global box office should break $100m in the next ten days. Silk has been nominated for Canadian movie technical awards, the Genies. It's up for Production Design, Costume Design, Sound, Cinematography and Score by Ryuichi Sakamoto. Winners will be announced on March 3rd. The DVD will come out in the US on February 26th and March 3rd in Europe. Can't wait! • Source [ edit ] I just can't stop updating! There is so much Keira press, I haven't even made a dent in documenting it all. However, I have added another 13 articles to the Press Archive . We now have almost 60 articles. I'd say one of the bigger archives that I have seen on a site? Achievement? I think so! Anyways, there's much, much more to come. I'm working on some fun and exciting content. You can expect to see it soon. [ edit (this is the last of the night,I swear! ]Gallery Updates! Added another batch of pictures to the gallery. Filed under: News, Gallery Updates, New Photos, Press Archive BAFTA'S! • 29 Jan 2008 Posted by Ali » Comments (0) As I'm sure you all have heard, Keira is up for some BAFTA awards... With the Hollywood writers' strike forcing the cancellation of the Golden Globes ceremony and, potentially, the upcoming Academy Awards, the Baftas look set to be the highpoint in an otherwise lacklustre awards season. Joe Wright's Atonement, starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, is the frontrunner for best picture. Other hopefuls include Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, the Coen brothers' No Country for Old Men and Anton Corbijn's Ian Curtis biopic Control. Full List of Nominations? • Source [ edit ] Media Donation! Thanks to Tyler, we now have our first Media Donation! I love you : ) [ edit numero dos ] Calendars! It's quite random, but I've added a Calendar to the Media section. Every month I will create a new Calendar for you to use, if you choose to do so. I don't know what you would like to do with it, go nuts! If you find a way to use it, you can let me know or something : ) Did you see the coding mess up? Yes, that was me. I was updating the media section of the site but accidentally uploaded the stylesheet to the wrong section. It's fixed now, sorry! Filed under: Media Updates, Awards, Donations Images Galore! • 28 Jan 2008 Posted by Ali » Comments (0) I just added tons of photos to the gallery. I'm not sure if they're never-before-seen or not, you'll just have to see for yourself. Thanks to Celebutopia for the images! I'm not sure what is going on with The Edge of Love / The Best Time of Our Lives. I imdb'd The Best Time of Our Lives, and it brought me to the Edge of Love page. I guess the movie has been named twice or something. If someone knows more, I'd appreciate an update! : ) [ edit ] I added four new wallpapers to the media section! All of them were made by yours truly. As I said, we are accepting donations, so email them to me if you got 'em! [ edit #2 ] New Media Layout I got bored of the plain old media layout very quickly, so I designed this in like 20 minutes and put it up. It's still very simple, but I like it better than the other one.
