My Dad has grown old right before my eyes.I watched his sadness when his first child passed. You can still see the heartbreak in his eyes. I guessParents never get over the death of their child. My Dad has grown old right before my eyes.I watch his sons and grandsons pass him by withouta handshake or a hug, but a word of goodbye.I wonder what stands between them that keep themapart or is it just pride that they both feel in their hearts. My Dad has grown old right before my eyes. His grandchildren fill his days with joy. Hugging himand staying close while he peels an apple or orange for their joy. My Dad has grown old right before my eyes. The man that fills a room just by being there, and a man full of wisdom for those who take the timeto listen. My Dad has grown old right before my eyes.I wonder how he’s lived this long with all the hard work and hardship he has endured in his life; While supporting his family and trying to raise us right. My Dad has grown old right before my eyes. He tellsme he loves me often and brings joy to my heart. Being his only daughter has been the treasure of my life.My Dad has grown old right before my eyes, andI thank God for letting him grown old, right beforemy eyes. I hope this book will help others who are hurting from their loss. Our pets are so dear to us. (A brief passage from chapter 1.)The grieving has been the hardest thing. We are now in our fifth month and it is still hard. We loved her so much. She was so much a part of our lives. We visited our priest and that helped. We have read books about grieving the loss of a pet. All of these things help, because we know we are not alone. When we share our feelings of pain and heart break, we gather strength from each other. It is part of the healing process and it helps us to celebrate the life of the pet that died. We decided to share our story in hopes that it will help other people grieving the loss of their beloved pet. I believe the best place to start is the obvious – the beginning of our love affair with this beautiful gift from God.It was the middle of May, 2001, when we brought her home. With her apricot curly hair and sparkling green eyes, it was love at first sight. Our precious toy poodle weighed less than two pounds. Tiny as she was, you could look into those eyes and you automatically knew she had a heart bursting with love. Naming her was difficult, but finally we decided to name her after her grandmother Fifi Cherie. I wasn’t crazy about the name at first, but it wasn’t long before we knew it was a perfect fit. Fifi is a French name it is derived from Josephine meaning to increase, and that is what she did. With everyday our love for her increased and she became a fixture in our lives. The best way to start is to access what we have and how we can stretch it to make ends meet. Once we figure out what we have coming in and going out, we can make a budget to manage our money. A budget is a plan of action. It helps us to see things on paper. You know when you write down the amounts coming in and going out, you can see a clearer picture of what you need to do. Do you need to cut out some expenses that you want but don’t need? Small amounts of money add up when you start making cuts. You will find hundreds of articles written on this subject, and the common denominator to all of these articles is managing your money and living within your means. If you spend more than you have coming in, you will always be in a hole. Making a plan of how you will manage your money will be the best decision you will ever make. If you make a plan, and it doesn’t work, keep working at it. We are all individuals with different ideas, needs, and situation. Make a budget plan that works for you.We cannot depend on others or our government to solve our problems. We have to take the initiative to do it ourselves. The government is in debt. They are spending more than they have, and they are throwing money to the wind. God help us, if they don’t start living within their means. We have to make decisions for ourselves that will help us to survive the economic crisis our country is facing. I believe that there is hope in our future, but I don’t think it will be brought about by our government. In a capitalistic society, we have to let the market work. At this time we have too much interference by the government, but we as citizens can make a difference in our own money management decisions and on elections day. This is also good advice for our government. Our government needs to set a better example of controlling spending and sticking to their budget. When the government advocates spending or bailing out businesses with taxpayer’s money, it makes a mockery out of our capitalistic roots. The economy did not get in the shape it is in because of the free market. It got in this mess by the reckless use of taxpayer’s money, greed, and miss-management by corporate CEOs. As individuals, we have to change our habits and learn to manage. Can one person make a difference in this economic crisis? The answer is yes. Start by controlling your money instead of letting it control you. What you need is a plan? The best plan that I have found is a budget. A budget will put you in control of your money. Sometimes, we all feel like we are a slave to our money, because it is passing through our hands to someone else. How can we hold on to some of that money? By budgeting, you have a specific plan that puts you in control. A budget helps you control your spending and think about where you are at all times with your money. The government need to heed this advice and stop spending money we don't have. We can not borrow ourself out of debt. A time to make new goals, and work toward accomplishing all the things that slipped by me last year. Time goes by fast leaving me amazed at how little I accomplished, but maybe it is time to slow my pace and take time to enjoy each blessed day I have been given. Sometimes, I find myself rushing through the day trying to get everything done, and I fail to see the people and the beauty around me. This year my goal is to set fewer goals and task for myself, which I pray, will give me the time to enjoy my family and the beautiful world around me. Life is a gift. I want to appreciate life more. As I move forward into this year, I want to appreciate the people in my life, the beauty in my surroundings, and the love that God has given me. In living a simple life, I chose to slow down and enjoy the gift of my life.
