skip to main | skip to sidebar Color to Paper My little creative nook Sunday, February 1, 2009 Sugar Sugar February Project - Tag Card February project for Sugar Sugar is to make a Tag card. Claudia, the artist (sold by Funky Kits) is colored with Copic markers. She looks a little older than the other Bell images (I think) so I wanted to try and make a non-cutesy card. Her outfit is a fuschia ribbed sweater, black silk or velvet pants with a gold sequined sash and gold shoes. I applied gold stickles on the shoes, sash, necklace (?) with the G-clef, her jewelry and on the center of each rose on the pattern paper. The rhinestones were applied on black cardstock edge for bling (I am seriously addicted to these I think) No faux stitching anywhere as I wanted to try making a different kind of card. :) Stamped a sentiment on her upper left part to fill up the Nestability label 1 frame. I wanted Claudia to be the center of attention. :)When you open this card, the tab stays. The cream cs initially had a lace edge (MS punch) but I changed my mind & covered the lace edge with the same pattern paper I used in the front. I wanted to try and make the card *modern* looking at the most. :) I didn't know what flower (or embellishment) to put in the center and I just decided to make my own large flower by using locally made white silk flowers. The edges were inked using copic markers and I wanted it to bunch up like a rose so I sewed each flower tight together. I was surprised it looks like a carnation or rose & I'm happy with it. The sides looked empty so I drew swirls around the flower with white gel pen and I applied rhinestones on the edges. Black swirls are rub-ons. Pattern paper, black cs, pink cs and ribbon from Papertrey. This is on the lower part of the card. I used the sentiment from Unity stamps. Center of flowers have stickles on them for a little bling. I had to stop myself on putting more rhinestones. Thanks for making it this far and sorry for the lengthy post. As always, Thank you for looking and for any comments you may leave. :) Have a great day!Stamps: Sugar Nellie (Claudia the Artist), Autumn Leaves - sentiment, Unity stamps sentimentInk: Memento Black and London FogPaper: Neenah Cream cs, PTI black and fuschiaAccessories: Neastabilities Label 1, Rhinestones, White gel pen, Rub-ons, Silk flowers, Stickles, Ribbon. Just make a Valentine card using any Sugar Nellie image. The prize for this challenge is the *full* set of 6 Leanne Ellis 'Annie' stamps worth £27 from Funkykits!!! Isn't that just WOW!?! Ok, better join in ladies - you have nothing to lose. :) For more details please go to the Sugar Bowl Challenge blog. ETA: There will be 6 *new* Leanne Ellis stamps to be made (have not seen any previews yet though) and winner of this challenge will have a choice of claiming the old or new set! Wow, wow, wow. For this Valentine card I used Choose Sugar Nellie stamp by Leanne Ellis sold by Funky Kits. I made some hearts on strings on top were made to look like they are a part of the hearts that she is picking from. Paper Roses on the bottom for a romantic touch (I hope). I wanted to add stamped swirls underneath the roses but the card might be "too busy" so I left it alone. The white cs is stamped with SU! French Script in red ink. I was asked what medium I use to color, I love to use Copic Markers. :)Inside, you can flip/spin the heart - It would've been great if I had the stamp "My heart flips for you".... It could just be handwritten.. Used Spellbinders Nestabilities (scallop and plain) hearts and ovals. Both ovals, top and bottom portions are left blank for handwritten notes. Added knotted ribbon at the bottom for added something lol! You flip the heart ... ta da! The swirls around the heart are from the Grunge Collection (Stempelglede)I used True Love by Leanne Ellis for the inside image. I wanted to use a heart shape so I stamped her (minus the border) and drew missing parts & more bubbles on the background and applied Ranger accents on the top to make them 3-D. Small paper roses for the heart border and on her hair.Close up of the inner flap. Used the BG stamp again, stamped in black. Nestabilities scallop and plain ovals. Used black scallops for contrast. Cute ribbon pearls on top. I just had to put some pearls somewhere in this card... and hope I didn't overdo it. I think roses, lace and pearls just "go romantically together". :)I couldn't leave the back portion "naked" so I added roses with no leaves (that are supposed to look like they are floating/flying) and a band of ribbon on the bottom. Since this card is thick, I scored the sides less than 1/4" thick so it can close. In the center of the ribbon shaped pearls are gold glitters. I know the string's a little lopsided - we (my sister, niece and I) were flipping, spinning the heart around too much. Couldn't resist showing a flipped back. :)I placed a paper rose on her hair, inked the heart borders with a gold glitter pen and clear glitter pen on the flowers to make them shine.Hearts are mounted on 3D foam to make them look like she can pick them too and some gold cord around each heart to make them pop form the background.Thank you for making it this far and I am sorry for the long post. This card really took me a long time to make and I wanted to show it to the fullest. :)Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave.Don't forget to join the challenge, there's a *full* set of Annie stamps to be won!The 2 images (Choose and True Love) are included in the set of 6.Stamps: Sugar Nellie (Choose and True Love), PTI hearts and sentiment, SU! This is really a sparkly card. House was first glued on cs, then the fence was mounted on foam & Tilda is again mounted on foam on top of the fence. Edge of memory box cs airbrushed. Violet cs is faux stitched with silver pen to make it stand out.Her buttons are rhinestones. I used glitter pens on the fur and swirl trims, snow on the floor, fence and snow on the house.I wanted snowflake-flowers (falling) so I used snowflake punches layered with 2 colors and added pearl brad on the centers. Edges of snowflakes are lined with silver pen and on each tip, liquid pearls. Added silver dots on background for more bling. I had to make these boy cards sparkle. I had no image that would fit in this theme - good thing too as I had little time to make these. They are giving them out this morning. I used lanterns to make up for the missing boy image :) Made them in portrait and landscape formats... couldn't decide which was nicer. Sentiment ("May everything go well") is embossed and placed on a red cs mat. I just outlined the black and gold lines using pens. The whole square has been popped up using foam tape.Stamped leaves in gold ink, colored with markers then added glitter pens on the top for shimmer and used foam tape on the lanterns to make them pop up. Lantern top and bottom edged with gold pen and had to put a black frame around the cards to make them "whole". I was feeling guilty, Maddie's cards really looked nice compared to these...The lot of cards and envies :)Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave. :)Stamps: Chinese sentiment (my own), Lanterns (Impresss), Leaves (SU!)Ink: Pallette red, Memento sand, Encore! I have been busy making Chinese New Year cards for my niece and nephews and a few projects. I used these 2 cute Sugar Nellie images by Leanne Ellis for Maddie's Chinese New Year cards - yep, for her teachers. They're really cute and she loves these girls too. Both cards have the same layout/design, I just used 2 different SN images. This first card uses Blossom. Applied liquid pearls on the flower centers on her hair and on her hands and sides. Here, I used Talking to the Birds. Both stamps can be bought at Funky Kits. Sentiment (Happy New Year) is embossed. I wanted to color her dress full red with gold accents (as we wear red this day). I applied gold stickles on her dress and flower centers on the branches. Both cards and the envie. Card felt empty so I added a black frame. Stamped envies with the branches and some lanterns. I'll be doing some Chinese New Year cards for the boys next. Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave. Have a great day!Stamps: Blossom and Girl with Birdhouse by Sugar Nellie, SU!
