The old bailout scenario is becoming old news but, it is interesting that one of the companies asking for this bailout is at least trying to look after their customers, unlike Ford. GM announced awhile ago that they are recalling approximately 1.5 million vehicles due to the potential for them to leak oil and cause an engine fire. Some of the vehicles aren’t even in production now!!!!!. And, we’re talking POTENTIAL HERE!!!!!! Ethics. Now, Ford kept on selling F150s with leaky front windows and didn’t even warn the consumer that their electronics were frying due to this leak. Yes, they would repair the damaged parts at the consumer’s cost but, they didn’t always tell why the part was damaged. No one was sent a letter telling them to look out for certain issues that would warn them that there was a potential for damage. No, Ford hid the problem, made their profits and are now moving on.
GM, at least you’ve got the balls to stand behind your product, even when your having financial problems. Having experienced this, I now understand the historical viewpoint of Ford – old Henry Ford’s picture up on Hitler’s wall and slave labour to build for the Third Reich… And, suing the US government for bombing the Ford/Nazi vehicle plants!!!… (note: yes, GM sued as well but at least they back the consumer) Yes, this sort of explains why Ford doesn’t care enough about the consumer and the F150 problems. But then, Ford is a patriotic company – yeah right…… They hide problems from the consumer and god only knows what else they are hiding - especially from the government – ergo the lack of asking for bailout – too many questions and control.
