I woke up this morning and switched on my computer and aaargh. There was a message from dear Mel of Creekside Cottage Designs - she had tagged me. Then Carol - Crops2Dawn got me too. Right in the firing line I was - shoot, it's not pheasant season already is it?Apparently what you are supposed to do is to go to My Pictures, go to the 6th folder and then to the 6th picture in the folder, upload the photo and explain. This is my photo. This photo was sent to me by a kind gentleman who was at the same Children's home as my father was when he was a boy. The photo shows my dad (George Ballard) at the top, along with some of the other kids who were sent to what was then Rhodesia as part of the Fairbridge College Scheme in 1948. The Fairbridge College pupils were all from the UK. Some were orphans and some were signed over to what passed for Social Services back then, to be sent to the colonies in the hopes that they would have a better life rather than growing up in post war Britain. Some of the children were sent to Australia, some to Canada, some to South Africa and others like my dad to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). Some of boys and girls who were sent overseas with the Fairbridge kids are still alive and they all still keep in touch with reunions every couple of years and sometimes even newsletters get emailed out. These are the lucky ladies that I am inviting to join in this challenge and pull out one of your photos for a little show and tell sessionBethLiz of Lizard Dau DesignsSandy from Sandez CreationzRachel of Creative BackboneSybille of Sybille ScrapsKylie from Kylie's BlogspotTiff from Tiff's BlogspotSo, ladies, you've been tagged.
