Hello and welcome once again to Song of the Moment, your source for songs captured in a moment of time. Well it’s been about six days now and I honestly didn’t have any songs that I really felt that I wanted to share with the interwebs, so I didn’t. Not the best way to build a following, but there you have it, honesty is the best policy after all.
So I’ve been catching up on my ever-growing movie collection and I came across a past favourite; The New Guy. I cannot begin to express how much I love that particular movie. When you are the outsider and all you want is to fit in and you do anything you can think of to make that happen, well, it will speak to me and that is pretty much the movie in a nutshell, just add in some well timed humor and some over the top scenes and you got a winner. Thanks 2002 and thank you DJ Qualls and the rest of The New Guy crew, thank you!
This isn’t “Movie of the Moment” no, it’s Song of the Moment and the reason why SR-71’s cover of “Let It Whip” is today’s song of choice is because it was featured during a pivotal point in the movie as well as being a headliner on the soundtrack. I also really, really like the band [ who are sadly on indefinite hiatus, but we all know that can turn around eventually ] and prefer the cover over the original by Dazz Band. Two retro covers featured in a row? Coincidence? No, that’s pure Song of the Moment! Enjoy.
