It has been much too long since I wrote something on here but I have been busy with GearHeadWiki lately. I have created an affiliate program for the site.
First I want to make it very clear that my affiliate (I hate the word “affiliate” because to so many people it means “avoid like the plague”) program is not like any other. (*Note: This is all preliminary, pre-launch stuff, so a lot can, and probably will change). Building a community is probably one of the hardest things to do on the internet. Building a community is also one of the most valuable and necessary things to have a successful (I don’t just mean money) website. My answer to the problem of building a community is to bring people together through…
1. Their love of cars
2. The power of mass collaboration
3. Peoples’ desire for money
This will happen because I will pay people based on how much quality information they add to GearHeadWiki based on how much the net revenue is. Scoring is done on a point system. Points for pages and edits (monthly and lifetime), as well as points based on how much the people you refer add to the site.
