I was so glad to have a night out with the girls last Friday. We went downtown to my old Alma Mater Wayne State University - to visit a grad student friends campus art studio. The first photo is "Old Main" and the second "State Hall" - both housed many of my classes while I was there. What memories. We attended an opening at Wayne State and then walked to "Cass Cafe" for dinner and coffee. We were not aware that there was another opening at the Cafe that night. We really lucked out. The cafe/bar has two floors and features art exhibits regularly. After dinner - another walk though the area (everything is near campus) to the Detroit Artists Market for another opening featuring "Insider/Outsider artworks. Very fascinating. Sipped on some white wine and strolled though the minds of some interesting artist pieces. Then it was home again. Andrea, Carol, Martine and I got our exercise in tonight. I confessed that I almost didn't go... I've been struggling with a little bout of the blues lately. It would have been so easy to make up an excuse and not go - but they convinced me that ladies night out would do the trick, and so it did. I had a wonderful time. It was just what the doctor ordered. My Mother in Law moved in with us on Sunday. It came to a point where living on her own was not a safe option anymore. Unfortunately the very first night here wound up with her having to go the the emergency room and being admitted to the hospital with acute gall stones. I've been there everyday since. It looks like an operation will occur soon, and then there will be rehab. She is 91, so there is so much to take into consideration. I am going to be her main caregiver - so that will take a huge amount of my time - yet meanwhile ...I still have to get my pieces together for the 3 month show beginning October 1. I'm 90% good to go, but still need to finish a few I have started. It's down to crunch time on that. Right now, I'm a busy bee.
